Death of Matrix Online

Not many know this but I was part of the closed beta for this game along with the open one after that. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and it is entirely possible that I would have been writing this blog about it instead of WoW except for the fact that my wife detested the game. For the past 4 yrs I have been playing WoW and wouldn't have started it if my wife hadn't enjoyed it and decided to take part along with me.

But back to MxO. Seems Sony feels they have gotten as much as they possibly could out of the game and so are shutting it down today. The premise behind the game was a continuation from when Neo had the Architect agree that anyone who wanted free from the Matrix would be set free and thus the continuing battle from there. Now the machines don't want to lose people because they lose their power cells, humans want people to free them and the Merovingian? Well he is more interested in acquiring power for power's sake. Who would you fight for? Personally I wanted to fight for the machines on the premise that due to what the humans did to the earth to try and beat the machines there is no way for earth to support all the people in the Matrix. Instead let the people know what they are capable of doing and to take full advantage of the power that would be available to them. Imagine being able to jump from place to place and not needing a car. To be able to produce things instead of having to purchase them. There is so much available to a person inside the Matrix and they would have the ability to live, it would in essence be a symbiotic relationship. Heh, as you can tell I did some thinking on this.

Anywho I would like to wish a fond farewell to a game that had so many possibilities in that they were a live story that was actually changing according to how the players played. It was the players who decided which way to go by taking part in the week long events that happened and thus the story grew from that. True there was a basis that the writers were leaning towards but they wanted feedback from the player base as to where to go. I personally would have prefered if they could have stayed with a rock/paper/scissors type fighting interface as it was more controlled by the player but rpg's are based on random numbers and thus are decided by those numbers.

So back in force and looking at my shaman once again. I have been spending the last few months doing a little of this and a little of that, but most of my time has been helping my friend level up his first toon. He has been enjoying his time in game, we have gotten him to 70 and he just got into NR yesterday. The main problem is that he is doing it on a 10 day trial and hopefully will have the funds to get the full game sometime soon as his time is coming to an end. The triple xp that came from recruit a friend was real nice and I was able to lvl up a warlock real fast. We made it to 60 in about a month and a half with only about an hour or so every night as he has a new little one at home that is being a little more disagreeable than our own. Once we hit 60 he picked up BC and off we went to Hellfire Peninsula. We were 64 by the time we went to Zangarmarsh and 66 going into Nagrand, finished off most of the Nagrand quests and had about 75% of 69 left so went to Blades Edge to finish it off. I worked on tailoring and mining with that toon though I didn't do much for mining, mostly waited until I hit 70 to start leveling tailoring. I have him at basic Frostweave and will level that as I am able with the cloth I pick up until 80.

For my shaman, I have been doing my fishing and cooking dailies as well as a few achievements. Its been kinda fun revisiting some of the old world. I did manage to get Flame Warden Achievement along with most of my exploration ones, hoping to finish that one by the end of the week. See what happens since we have Sonshine Festival this week.

Key fob idea is wrong.

Seems I was wrong when that they weren't going to produce these anymore. You can now at least access them on the Blizzard store site once again. Though they are still Sold Out.

Shared Topic: What three Achievements are you most proud of?

Thought I would put up a quick post on this one.

Three most proud of....hmmmm.

One: Ambassador, took me a little while to pick this one up and I went about it by actually running around and completing quests to fill it out. I suppose I could have bought the cloth and gotten rep that way but wanted to do it "right."

Two: Not sure if this an achievement or not but I got all my skills to 450. This isn't something I usually bother with since I get bored with it pretty quick, but I did a lot of fishing while my wife was pregnant. I ended up cooking alot due to the fish I had. Turned all my cloth into bandages, and picked herbs while wandering around. The only thing I really had to work at was Inscription but even that, most of the leveling was from doing research.

Three: Don't have it yet but I am working on getting all the old world instances done, will then move on to BC and get that done then hopefully LK instances. We hit a bit of snag with 40 AQ in that the first boss has a nasty mc that the boss is easy but having to take down a lvl 80 druid who is smacking you around is hard.

Key fob Authenticator a thing of the past?

Went searching thru the Blizzard.com site for an authenticator and it seems that they have gotten rid of it. Couldn't believe it so I went through the trouble of going through www.battle.net and I got this. Absolutely nothing. Seems the only one is through a phone right now but only korea and iphone are supported. Maybe they will get the other ones updated soon. I certainly hope so.

Had to save this for posterity.
