We can Haz Pengu?

Interesting. Was logging into WoW tnite and came across a post at the login in screen.

"in 29 days, on November 11, 2009, all accounts must be converted into a Battle.net account to login to World of Warcraft. Any existing account that upgrades to the Battle.net platform, including ones that were upgraded in the past, will receive a brand new in-game penguin pet starting later this week."

Will have to wait until later to get a screenshot of the pet to show off, but to think we will be getting a penguin and a mini Onyxia? Wow they are free with the vanity pets. Does this mean they are catering to the female gamers out there? Just Kidding!! /ducks flying debris thrown by lady gamers.

10 man TOC

Very interesting fight.

1st one is the creature fight where u have to take on is Gormok, pretty simple heal in that you just have to watch for the bars going down. We had 2 shamans in the group along with a priest healer, I set up the other shaman and priest as mt/ot heals and had myself on raid, we through down stoneskin, fire resist, flametongue, mana stream, healing stream, wrath of air and wind fury totems to help buff up as much as we could. As a healer watch for the impales, keep the tanks and raid up and watch for Snobolds, if you get a snobold call for a dps to kill em as fast as possible as they have a nasty habit of interrupting.

2nd was the 2 worms, I hated this fight because I could never quite get it figured out. Make sure you are to the back of the worms as the stationary one will spray and aoe in front of it. Have a healing stream totem close to the tanks to help keep them topped off.

3rd Icehowl. Pretty simple fight, only thing I found was when he pointed at you, you want to run perpendicular to him so that he won't hit you with his charge. After he hits the wall with his charge dps was able to burn him down pretty fast.

Lord Jaraxxus
This was a pretty simple fight, only things to watch for were the 2 types of fire that he kicks out on the raid. I definitely had a fire resist totem up for this to help out a little. We also set up a couple of safe zones for people to run to if they had the legion flame so that they could run around. Reminded me a lot of naxx when you take on Glob. The rest is just a typical keep the healing meters up.

Champions
This was an interesting fight in that I don't do much for pvp, at all. Since in our group the other shaman and myself were the only cc's available we took on hexing the 2ndary healer while the group burnt down the first one. Make sure to watch your surroundings and help out however you can. Once the group has both healers down I usually picked up a caster to hex as I was able to try and minimize damage to the group. Healing stream totem is very helpful here.

Twin Valkyrs
Royal pain in the butt. With this fight you need something like DBM to help tell you which color to change to. We ran with 1/2 the group in white and half in black. In one of the phases there are balls that come out and you want to make sure keep the opposite color from your tank from hitting them, thus we usually had the healer in a dif color to the tank. Let the dps pick up like colors as this will improve the damage that they do. Only other thing to mention for healers is the vortex. When this comes up you want to pick the same color as is being cast, so if it is a black vortex then change your aura to black. This will minimize the damage done to you by the vortex.

Anub'rekan(SP)
This is the last fight you will face, when it starts out good old Arthas comes walking out and tells you about the history of the place and then drops the floor out from under you and you drop into a pool of water. Make sure all DK's have their water walking aura off as this will kill the people affected by it. (stupid DK's) you then get ready for the boss. Much like in AN he has the same abilities. deals dmg, burrows under ground, throws up spikes. In this fight the dps has to kill the bugs that come out to spread out the permafrost, also there are extra adds that come out that the dps will want to concentrate on. The thing to remember is that when the boss goes underground he throws out spikes that follow one or 2 of the raid members. The only way to keep yourself from getting killed by it is to make sure the Permafrost is between you and the spikes. They are frozen in place and you are safe. The next phase you have to do some dancing around with your heals, you want to keep the tank topped off as much as possible and yet you want to keep most of the raid at 50% so that the amount he is healed by is minimized. I can't honestly say when the phase starts as this was my first time in there and I just went off what the RL told me over vent but needless to say it took a lot of firing of CH and LHW.

Once you have him done you are done with 10 man TOC.

Hope this helps :)

Oh and I picked up this from the raid. Gloves of the Azure Prophet.

How To: New Shaman Button Bar

New button bar for shamans is sweet and actually pretty easy to use. Can't wait to have my bartender play around with it a bit more, but back to the how to.

Step 1- go to your shaman trainer, whether they be in Exodar, Stormwind, or where ever the Horde go to train their shaman
Step 2- train for each of the calls Earth, Ancestors, Spirit
Step 3-click on new button that shows up next to your shaman button bar and look for the arrow that shows up just above it. Choose one of the calls and then assign totems to this call by choosing them from the buttons next to it.
Step 4-rinse and repeat for each of the other calls.
Step 5-If you wish you can go into the keybinding interface in wow menu and assign a keybind to each of your calls.

And now you can successfully call up 4 totems at one time. If you wish to change your totem you can use the button bar to do so. Personally I am keeping my totemtimer addon for the shield monitoring and to be able to change totems on the fly. it is a little less cumbersome to use, that and I hope the author gets it updated so I don't have to use the in game interface for this.

Ulduar

Went into Ulduar for the first time a few nites ago. Was a blast and thanks to our guild Raid Leader it went off quite well. We managed to get Flame Leviathan down without a wipe and after finding a few more people to fill out the roster we moved on to XT.

The thing was that we had sign ups setup and had 8 people sign up for the run, thankfully we had enough tanks and had 2 healers sign up along with 4 dps. We found our 3rd healer and decided to head in with 9 people. Run down what each machine does and what to do, take out trash time for the boss. Get the run down on what to do for the boss and pull. Went off smoothly with only 1 death, dps couldn't get back to machine before he got taken down by aoe dmg.

Oh too late for some of the people who came so 2 people had to log out which left us a healer and a dps down. Put out the guild what we needed and had one person volunteer for dps position though he was geared as a tank. No matter extra body always helps. Had a rogue login as well that we called on and got ready to go for XT. Took down trash with 2 shaman healers, a bear, and a tankadin. Leader spells out what to do for the boss and we pull him. Was going pretty good until the adds start coming in, my wife doesn't realize that she has to take out the bombs thinking they were the big guys she was supposed to stay away from and they march on the raid and wipe. 2nd time going in and we are running good took down first wave of adds but I just can't get close enough to help heal tank while trying to keep raid up and 2nd wipe. That is when we called it and decided it was time to sleep. Was a good run and I got Firestrider Chestguard not sure if it is better than my t7 and I don't want to sacrifice the 4 pc bonus that I get since I also now have my t8 gloves from doing VoA. Will put some pics below when I get on my main comp.

Death of Matrix Online

Not many know this but I was part of the closed beta for this game along with the open one after that. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and it is entirely possible that I would have been writing this blog about it instead of WoW except for the fact that my wife detested the game. For the past 4 yrs I have been playing WoW and wouldn't have started it if my wife hadn't enjoyed it and decided to take part along with me.

But back to MxO. Seems Sony feels they have gotten as much as they possibly could out of the game and so are shutting it down today. The premise behind the game was a continuation from when Neo had the Architect agree that anyone who wanted free from the Matrix would be set free and thus the continuing battle from there. Now the machines don't want to lose people because they lose their power cells, humans want people to free them and the Merovingian? Well he is more interested in acquiring power for power's sake. Who would you fight for? Personally I wanted to fight for the machines on the premise that due to what the humans did to the earth to try and beat the machines there is no way for earth to support all the people in the Matrix. Instead let the people know what they are capable of doing and to take full advantage of the power that would be available to them. Imagine being able to jump from place to place and not needing a car. To be able to produce things instead of having to purchase them. There is so much available to a person inside the Matrix and they would have the ability to live, it would in essence be a symbiotic relationship. Heh, as you can tell I did some thinking on this.

Anywho I would like to wish a fond farewell to a game that had so many possibilities in that they were a live story that was actually changing according to how the players played. It was the players who decided which way to go by taking part in the week long events that happened and thus the story grew from that. True there was a basis that the writers were leaning towards but they wanted feedback from the player base as to where to go. I personally would have prefered if they could have stayed with a rock/paper/scissors type fighting interface as it was more controlled by the player but rpg's are based on random numbers and thus are decided by those numbers.

They're back!!!

We're Back, Back in Black yes we are back, back in Black yeah we're back, back, back in black!

ok I will stop singing now, I know I am no AC/DC. :)

So back in force and looking at my shaman once again. I have been spending the last few months doing a little of this and a little of that, but most of my time has been helping my friend level up his first toon. He has been enjoying his time in game, we have gotten him to 70 and he just got into NR yesterday. The main problem is that he is doing it on a 10 day trial and hopefully will have the funds to get the full game sometime soon as his time is coming to an end. The triple xp that came from recruit a friend was real nice and I was able to lvl up a warlock real fast. We made it to 60 in about a month and a half with only about an hour or so every night as he has a new little one at home that is being a little more disagreeable than our own. Once we hit 60 he picked up BC and off we went to Hellfire Peninsula. We were 64 by the time we went to Zangarmarsh and 66 going into Nagrand, finished off most of the Nagrand quests and had about 75% of 69 left so went to Blades Edge to finish it off. I worked on tailoring and mining with that toon though I didn't do much for mining, mostly waited until I hit 70 to start leveling tailoring. I have him at basic Frostweave and will level that as I am able with the cloth I pick up until 80.

For my shaman, I have been doing my fishing and cooking dailies as well as a few achievements. Its been kinda fun revisiting some of the old world. I did manage to get Flame Warden Achievement along with most of my exploration ones, hoping to finish that one by the end of the week. See what happens since we have Sonshine Festival this week.
